Geometry in Context Project Scrapbook or Powerpoint

Unit 3 Project 

During this chapter, we are studying polygons.  You will be required to create a scrapbook of polygons found in the world around you.  You can create a booklet or a powerpoint to display your project.

Your scrapbook/powerpoint will contain the following:
  • A cover page with your name, date, and block and a title
  • A table of contents
  • A page for each of the following figures:
o   Triangles
o   Isosceles triangle (explain how you know)
o   Right triangle (explain how you know)
o   Special Quadrilaterals
o   Parallelogram (list 2 characteristics)
o   Rhombus (list 2 characteristics)
o   Square (list 2 characteristics)
o   Rectangle (list 2 characteristics)
o   Trapezoid (list 2 characteristics)
o   Kite (list 2 characteristics)
o   Polygons
o   Pentagon (find the sum of the interior angles)
o   Hexagon (find the measure of one exterior angle of a regular hexagon)
o   Octagon (find the measure of one interior angle of a regular octagon)

Each figure’s page will contain the following:
  • Identify the figure
  • A definition of that figure
  • Find 1 example of that figure as found in magazines, photographs, product labels, etc.
  • Captions to go with each picture telling what the picture is of and where you found it (ex: which magazine, website address, etc.)
  • Specified information about that figure (this part is assigned in parentheses)

Your scrapbook will be graded on:
  • Neatness and Creativity
  • Following Directions
  • Having all required elements

This project will be due on Friday, January 27.
